I recognize that if you read this you probably already know a lot about drugs, poilcy, science, health, etc. That I’m already so deep in the weeds on this stuff, that if you actually like me, subscribe and engage with this newsletter, you probably know a lot about the subject. You may not need advice, per se, about drugs, like how to use a test strip or what drug combos are really bad (WebMD, drugs.com, old bluelight and harm reduction forums have you covered). Maybe you don’t have many personal questions about drugs so this idea is moot.
But maybe I’m wrong. I want to open up a call for sending me questions you might have about whatever it is that’s on your mind.
Here’s a bit of my scattered thought process:
I think that, between 2010 to the present, the drug-space-world has rapidly evolved and changed into something barely comprehensible, confusing, inscrutable, and excessively grim. Seemingly every week there’s news of a god awful synthetic drug circulating in the supply. Or somebody died from tainted cocaine. Frankly, it’s been difficult to want to keep on this beat given how bad things have turned. So I’ve been dreaming up ways to make this newsletter something that is more proactive and less reactive. Being on the wrong end of a font of quick reaction to bad news isn’t great.
This newsletter was always supposed to be something fun. A casual hang. A place to chase down thoughts and ideas between the big features or small front-of-book stuff in print. Unedited, dressed down, freewheeling, seeing what happens when I open a new google doc with no outline or agenda.
In the spirit of that, I’ve kept everything here free. I’m extremely grateful for the paid subscribers out there, the new and old who recently followed me over here. So I’ll stop here and end with the call to fire away and send me your questions.
